Educating, mentoring, and empowering the next generation of leaders

To connect, educate and impact Nyanam youth (Widows children) for positive personal development, and societal change.
“Young children learn the most important things not by being told but by constructing knowledge for themselves in interaction with the physical world and with other children.”
Youth groups for personal and community transformation
We offer partial annual scholarship to widows' children in secondary and vocational institutions
We provide trainings in comprehensive health, sustainable livelihoods, environmental stewardship, technology education and child human rights
We provide internship, employment and volunteer opportunities, engaging youth leaders in project ideation, planning, implementation, and evaluation

We improve education outcomes for widows' children through a structured five-part approach that combines mentorship, education, psycho-social support, and community building. Youth mentors and widow matrons lead this work within organized mentorship groups across all our communities.
Widows' children aged 10-24 years organized into structured groups, formed, led, and managed by the youth themselves. Each leadership circle has 20-40 children in these mentorship groups, providing opportunities to share challenges, discuss dreams, develop talents, and set goals.
Targeted training for youth mentors (aged 24 and below) and widow matrons, equipping them with skills for fostering meaningful youth participation and leadership.
Youth mentors conduct monthly 1-2 hour education sessions, delivering thematic curriculum with 11 sessions annually. Each year tackles a different topic—comprehensive health, environmental stewardship, technology, child rights, and livelihoods.
Nyanam conducts quarterly visits to each youth mentorship group to support, assess progress, and address challenges to ensure program effectiveness.
A 4-day, 3-night immersive learning experience gathering all Nyanam widows' children for community building, thematic reinforcement, celebration of achievements, and reflection.

We offer partial annual scholarships to widows' children in secondary and vocational institutions. The program not only improves access to education but also builds communication skills and goal-setting through the application and mentorship process.

Within our organized youth mentorship groups, we create safe spaces where widows' children can express themselves freely, share challenges with peers, and receive support. These environments nurture self-worth, foster resilience, and ignite possibility in the hearts of those navigating life's complexities.
By end of 2026, 80% of widows' children report high sense of self-worth, having developed meaningful relationships and the confidence to become leaders in their communities.
